2nd Circular
Dear Colleagues,
The International Symposium on Nuclear Symmetry Energy (NuSYM10) will be held from July 26 to July 28, 2010 at RIKEN Nishina Center, Wako, Japan.
The symposium will cover:
- Advances in nuclear equation of state
- Recent theoretical developments
- Symmetry energy from heavy ion reactions
- Symmetry energy from nuclear masses and nuclear structure
- Effect of symmetry energy in neutron stars
The location of the symposium provides a great opportunity for participants to visit the new RIBF facility which is now producing intense RI beams to do reaction experiments to explore the matter properties of nuclear systems with variable neutron-to-proton ratio. The symposium will be a good opportunity to form collaborations and to advance inter-related research fields.
Invited talks and selected contributions will be presented in oral sessions. Poster sessions will also be arranged. Any participant who wish to give a presentation should submit an abstract following the information below.
The conference fee will be 10,000 yen, which should be paid by cash at the registration desk. Lunches and a conference dinner will be covered by the symposium. Proceedings will be made in an electronic form.
We have a small sum of money to provide partial support to junior scientists, students and postdocs. Please contact the organizers directly.
The final circular will be sent to the registered participants on around July 1st. The conference is limited to 100 participants. Please register early from the Registration Form in the symposium website. (Those who submitted the application form before this second circular should also submit the Registration Form to confirm the participation.)
A SAMURAI-TPC collaboration meeting is scheduled to be held on July 29, just after the symposium. The time projection chamber will serve as a major instrument for studying the symmetry energy at RIKEN. Everyone is invited to attend the meeting.
We will be most obliged to you for circulating this announcement among your colleagues.
Website and Correspondence
News about the symposium may be found on the symposium website http://ribfuser.riken.jp/conf/nusym10/ . All correspondence should be sent to the organizers' email address nusym10@ribf.riken.jp .

Abstracts
All the participants who wish to present a talk or a poster are requested to submit an abstract from the Abstract Submission Form in the symposium website. Invited speakers are also asked to submit an abstract. The deadline of abstract submission is May 10.
The submitted abstracts are selected for oral and poster presentations. Each subscriber will be informed of the selection by May 25.
Registration
All the participants are requested to submit the Registration Form from the symposium website by June 15. Those who submitted the application form before this second circular should also submit the Registration Form to confirm the participation.
The final circular will be sent to the registered participants on around July 1st.
Access to Symposium Site
The sessions will take place at the Conference Room of RIBF Building in RIKEN Wako Institute.
Most of the foreign participants should fly to Tokyo/Narita Airport (NRT). By taking trains from NRT, it takes about 2 hours to Wako-shi Station of Tobu Tojo Line which is the nearest station to RIKEN Wako Institute. There is also a direct connection by airport bus from NRT to Wako-shi Station.
More access information and a campus map are available in the RIKEN website (http://www.riken.jp/engn/r-world/riken/campus/wako/index.html).
Accommodation
There are several convenient hotels at stations along Tobu-Tojo Line. A list of hotels is available in the "Accommodation" page of the symposium website. Each participant should directly contact a hotel for reservation.
It may be difficult for foreign participants to find hotel information and to make reservation. In such a case, please ask the organizers to help for the arrangement of accommodation.
Some rooms may be available in guest houses in RIKEN. These guest houses are close to the symposium site, but they are not convenient for living. Those who wish to stay in a guest house can ask the arrangement to the organizers.
